Introduction
The DENSO Robotics Controller Protection box and Controller Protection Box Light are protective enclosures designed specifically for the DENSO RC8 and RC8A series controllers. The protective enclosures help to prevent costly contamination related failures and machine down time. It is generally recommended to implement the controller protection box at the time of machine integration, however many users have installed them after it became apparent that heavy contamination has resulted in controller damage.

The two variations of the controller protection box exist to account for cooling capacity and cost.
The standard Controller Protection Box has cooling capacity to address all configurations of the RC8 and RC8A series robot controllers except for UL specification it is at a higher cost than the Controller Protection Box Light.
The Controller Protection Box Light while less expensive than the standard Controller Protection Box is compatible with all models except for UL specification controllers, controllers designed to operate the VM series robot, VSA4 series robots with additional axis control, and MC8 systems with a combined motor capacity of 2000W or higher.

Connectivity & Integration
The Controller Protection Box and Controller Protection Box Light allow controllers to interface to all typical external devices normally by passing all cabling through a rubber wire clamps which helps prevent contamination ingress into the protection box.
Due to the size of the protection box, it is recommended to use the box at time of machine integration. Installing the protective box into an existing machine is possible however there may be difficulties depending on available space inside of the machine. It is recommended to review the full protective box documentation to ensure proper clearance is available inside the machine prior to purchasing the Controller Protection Box.
Use Cases & Applications
Common applications:
- Applications where the controller is exposed to excessive solid contamination, or fluid contamination such as machine tending.
Benefits
Benefits include:
- Reduction of controller failures due to contamination which can interrupt production
- Reduction of costly contamination related failures.
- Reduction of heat related errors
