Introduction
This guide covers how to login to a Denso RC8 / RC8A robot controller using both a full sized pendant & a mini pendant. Logging into the controller unlocks functions that are restricted by default. These functions include but are not limited to resetting encoders in the robot, calibrating the robot the robot, adjusting additional axis parameters, etc.
The RC8 & RC8(A) controller has 3 user levels - Operator, Programmer, & Maintainer. Operator is the most restrictive mode in the controller. Programmer offers access to most functions and is the default login level of the controller. Maintainer is the highest user level in the controller & offers access to all functions.
Prerequisites & Materials
- Full sized pendant or Mini Pendant (Full sized pendant recommended)
- RC8(A) controller passwords
- Operator - 5593551
- Programmer - 5596045
- Maintainer - 5596060
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 - Connect Pendant
Power down the controller and attach the mini pendant or the full sized pendant to the pendant port noted in the image below.
** Don't disconnect or connect pendant cables with the controller powered on, doing so can result in damage to the controller or pendant.
**Plese wait at least 6 seconds after powering the controller off before powering it back on again.
Step 2 - Power controller on
Power the controller on & wait for the controller to complete its boot sequence. For full sized pendant proceed to Step 3. For mini pendant, proceed to Step 4.
Step 3 - Login to the full sized pendant
From the main screen of the full sized pendant push the Setting button, push the Login button. Select the desired user level, enter the password and push OK.
In the example above, the maintainer user is being selected and the maintainer password is being used.
Step 4 - Login to the mini pendant
From the main screen of the mini pendant push the AUX button, use the arrow buttons to navigate to the desired user level and push OK. Use the Number buttons to enter the password for the controller and push OK to login.
In the example above the programmer user is being selected and the programmer password is being used.
Troubleshooting & Tips
- If a controller utilizes a panel screen the main screen won't display the Setting button. To exit a panel screen, push the Shift button and the Cancel button at the same time. Most users push and hold the Shift button and then push the Cancel button. If prompted for a password, please consult your machine designer, as this password is custom / defined by the integrator / machine builder / Engineer.
- If errors are populating on the screen preventing any user input, please utilize the Lock button on the pendant to prevent errors from being displayed and allow pendant navigation. Some functions cannot be performed while a pendant is locked.
- It is not necessary to input a password when decreasing user level. Ex when logged in as a maintainer, it is not necessary to input the operator password if changing to a operator user level.
Conclusion
- This guide will allow you to login to a Denso RC8 or RC8A controller using a full sized or mini pendant.
